How to Evaluate Kitchen Function During a Home Showing

A kitchen’s finishes are easy to notice. Its everyday function takes a closer look.

During a showing, imagine unloading groceries, preparing a meal, washing dishes, and putting everything away.

Look at the relationship between the refrigerator, sink, cooking area, and available work surfaces. Notice whether open appliance doors block walkways or cabinets.

Check storage where permission allows. Deep corners, narrow cabinets, and high shelves can affect how much of the space you can conveniently use.

Measure important openings if you expect to replace appliances. A refrigerator space may have limitations involving width, height, depth, door swing, or the route into the home.

Consider lighting and the placement of outlets, while leaving electrical evaluation to qualified professionals.

If a remodel is part of your plan, investigate plumbing, ventilation, electrical work, and structural changes before assuming the project is cosmetic.

An attractive kitchen may work well for you, but that conclusion should come from its layout as well as its appearance.
